Michael Garcia is in his third year with University Prep. He taught in New Mexico for nine years before moving to the Redding area in 2004. Michael has a Bachelors Degree in Mathematics and a Masters in Secondary Education from Western New Mexico University. He married his high school sweetheart, Joy, who works with Shasta County Mental Health. They have one daughter named Mychal Joy, who is a senior at Shasta High School. Michael has coached several sports including basketball, golf, and cross country. This year Mr. Garcia is teaching Algebra 1 and AP Statistics. Michael is a huge Dallas Cowboys, Los Angeles Lakers, and Los Angeles Dodgers fan.
